Answer:
The poem “Ozymandias” is written by P. B. Shelley. It possesses a strong context and criticism of our vanity and pride because of our successful leads. The poet meets a traveller from an ancient land. He tells the poet that he has seen two huge and bodiless legs of stone, standing in the desert. And near them, the rest of the body lies broken and half sunk in the sand. The frowns and features of the statue depict the man’s pride and arrogance. And the pedestal has these words engraved on it, “My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my works, ye Mighty and despair!”
But the grave contrast between the condition of the broken statue and the words mentioned on the pedestal put the writer to work and convey his feelings that time brings all luxuries of life to an end and death is a great leveller. The poet considers all feelings of superiority in man as only an illusion and self-deception. A man should avoid self-deception because it leads him to destruction.
