I hear the leaves are drinking water. I hear the rich leaves on the top gives water, drop by drop to the poor leaves beneath them which produces sweet noice, coming from near. Stanza 2:
This rain will stop after the sun comes out. Its incredible light will fill each dark round drop of the rain with light. I hope that the sun will shine bright which will create another beautiful sight.

The poem Rain written by W.H. Davies is a beautiful description of rain that is metaphorically compared with the reality of life. The poet admires the sweet noise of leaves drinking rain water which creates a spectacular scene. As the leaves above quench their thirst they pass on the drops of water to the leaves below them so that they could also get benefit of the rain. He calls the leaves rich that are above and gets the most of water and poor that is below which gives a lesson to the people that rich should help poor through the same way. When the poet says that sun comes out after raining and brightens up each rain drop. It creates a lovely sight. The poet means to say that there would be equality in the society just like the sunshine which spreads all over the world equally. This poem has symbolic meanings which draws our attention towards the fact that, rich fufil their needs as blessing are showered on them but, they should be kind towards the poors as well. In this way, giving and receiving will turn the world into a great place and there will be happiness all around.

Answer:
Rain is a natural source of water and a symbol of nourishment for the earth. It purifies the atmosphere. It was one of the midsummers dating July, the temperature was too hot. Everyone wanted to seek shelter in a cool place but it was not possible due to the burning heat of the sun. Animals and plants seemed nearly dead. Suddenly, the wind moved, giving a ray of hope. Everyone prayed for rain and God took mercy on his creature and the sky was over-cast with rainy clouds. The clouds flashed and thundered. It rained heavily for two or three hours. The water poured down from spouts, giving water to every sapling of the plant and every leaf of the tree. All the living creatures quenched their thirst. It was undoubtedly the happiest day especially for the children and the young people who found a better chance to play and enjoy it and take a break from their dull routine. After an hour or two, the air became cool and pleasant. The trees looked fresh and green. A rainbow appeared in the sky adding to the beauty of nature. Rainy day is considered to be the real blessing of God and “a thing of beauty”.
