Write a note on any one of the following:
i) Distribution of the Property b/w Azam & Moazzam.
ii) The Khyber Pass.
iii) Village wedding ceremonies of the Punjabis.

Answer:
i) Distribution of the Property b/w Azam & Moazzam.
After the death of their father, the two brothers Azam (the elder) and Moazzam (the younger) inherited a cow, a palm tree and a blanket. Azam being the elder brother gave the suggestion of division to Moazzam to which he agreed. Azam was a shrewd sort of a person so he showing his generosity gave the front part of the cow and the lower part of the date palm tree to Moazzam. With respect to the blanket,

Azam suggested that for the whole day it would be with Moazzam whereas, for the short period of the night, he would be using it. Moazzam agreed to the division as he was sure that being the elder brother Azam must divide all the property fairly and equally. He further blindly believed that whatever division Azam would make must be in his favour as Azam gave him the better part of the cow and date tree and generously asked him to use the blanket for the whole day.

ii) The Khyber Pass.
Khyber Pass is of significant importance not only in present days but in past times as well. It is basically a narrow mountain valley in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is about fifty kilometres long. The Aryans crossed Khyber Pass nearly four thousand years ago in order to enter Pakistan. Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi crossed the Khyber Pass seventeen times in order to attack South Asia. The valiant tribesmen of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa use to live in the mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They are the defenders of Pakistan in a true sense.

These brave men fought courageously against the mighty British Empire even under British rule over our country. They fought for a long period of a hundred years and truly defended their freedom. The Khyber Pass has been a famous trade route in the past as well as in the present times. In history, camel caravans were the vital source for transporting goods from one place to another. As time moves rapidly especially in the field of transport with the inventions of vehicles, the camel caravans have been replaced mostly by trains, lorries, and trucks.

iii) Village wedding ceremonies of the Punjabis.
Weddings in Punjab are being celebrated with full pomp and show. Punjabi culture is one of the oldest in world history. Punjabi weddings are fully traditional. Punjabis weddings are full of dances, traditional food colourful dresses, etc. The four main ceremonies of the wedding are Mayun, Mehandi, Barat, and Walima. The first event is mayun which is celebrated in the bride’s home with her family members and friends only. In this event, the bride wears yellow shalwar kameez and she is made free from all the domestic chores. In this event, all the dear ones gather and sing and dance and bless the bride. Second is Mehandi, in this event, all people gather and apply henna (Mehandi) to bride hands and feet and also all the girls apply henna on their hands as well.

Boys dance these traditional dances like bhangra etc. There is a huge firework. After that is the Barat in which there is a Nikkah ceremony and then the bride is being sent with the groom. There they do some cultural rituals with bride and groom. The family celebrates the arrival of Bahu in their house. After that, on the next day, there is the Islamic ceremony of Walima (the marriage banquet) in which a grand feast is arranged for all the dear ones of bride and groom they come to meet and greet the couple and give them blessings. These ceremonies are a moment of happiness and pleasure for families and love ones.

Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper, complaining against the shortage of water supply in the city.

 Letter:
The Editor,
The News,
Rawalpindi.
Subject: Complaint against the shortage of water supply
Respected Sir
I am a resident of one of the posh areas of the city but still, we are facing the serious problem of water supply in our area. It has become a very big problem in our daily lives. There is hardly any area in the city which is not affected by this problem. The whole city and system are paralyzed for the time being. We are suffering from this problem for a couple of days.
Due to this frequent shortage of water, we are totally handicapped as we are not able to do normal daily work as per routine. It has become very difficult for the housewives to do household chores. We do not have water for normal use and not even to drink. It has become a headache thereby obstructing our daily life routine.
I, therefore, request you to publish the letter in your newspaper to highlight this problem so the concerned authorities pay attention to the issue and would try to solve it on an urgent basis so we feel relaxed and tension free. I will be highly obliged.
Yours faithfully,
X.Y.Z.

Write a dialogue between father and son, discussing about the importance of the public library for the students.

Sindh Class 10

Answer:
Dialogue:
Father: What are you reading there son?
Son: It is the new superman comic, I just got it this afternoon from a friend in school.
Father: It is very nice that you have a habit of reading, but you should concentrate on reading more appropriate material.
Son: But I read my comics as a source of enjoyment not for educational purposes.
Father: You can read for enjoyment and educational purposes all at the same time. It only depends on what you read.
Son: Which books do you suggest I read?
Father: You should read classic literature or perhaps detective novels. They will help improve your vocabulary and your writing skills. And I know you will enjoy the mystery in them.
Son: That does sound interesting. But from where I can get such books.
Father: I have some great Sherlock Holmes novels that I am certain you will like very much. I went to the nearest public library and spend some good quality time there with books.
Son: Yes father but we do not have any public library near to our home as you are well aware of this thing.
Father: Ah! Well, you are right there is a great need for public libraries in every area. Public libraries are very beneficial for all the people and even all the people cannot afford the private library.
Son: Yes father, we also need lots of books related to our subjects as we cannot purchase those.
Father: Public libraries are a great source of getting knowledge. Public libraries are very important for students. There is more need for public libraries. But I will suggest to you, that even if they are far away you should visit the library and ought to read educational books.
Son: Great I would love to try them. Thank you for the suggestion.

Q.7) Write an essay on any of the following topics.

Write an essay on any of the following topics.
Importance of Muslim Unity.
An interesting PSL4 Cricket Match.
A visit to Hilly Areas of Pakistan.
Celebration of Independence Day.
English Class 10 Solved Past Papers for Sindh Board 7
  1. Importance of Muslim Unity.
  2. An interesting PSL4 Cricket Match.
  3. A visit to Hilly Areas of Pakistan.
  4. Celebration of Independence Day.

i) Importance of Muslim Unity.

Unity means oneness. A nation is said to be united and have unity when all the people of that nation have the same ideas, beliefs, and thoughts and they work together in harmony. We all know this famous proverb that Union is strength. That means that Muslims from all around the world should be united.
A famous English proverb says, “United we stand, divided we fall”. Our beliefs, ideas, and thoughts are the same. We believe in the same thing, we have the same principles and code of conduct. Muslims need to join hands with one another and work together with love and dignity.
Allah has blessed Muslims with lots of natural resources. It is necessary that we work with one another. If we start to trade with one another then we will progress by leaps and bounds and no power can stop us from our gigantic progress.

Independent Muslim countries should first be stronger themselves and then they should be united to save the other Muslims around the world who are in oppression or threatened by enemy attack. Many non-muslims countries have strategies against Muslims. To deal with such conspiracies, first, we should be united. If we will be united then we can face any challenge against us.

Muslims should not forget the moral values of honesty, selflessness, fraternity, and brotherhood. We should stick together and should not enlarge our minor disputes and quarrels. If we look at the past history of the Muslims we will come to know that they ruled the whole world just because of their unity and strength. Now the weakest we Muslims are weakest because we do not have that understanding and unity like our ancestors.
Unity has much importance if we Muslims are united and work together and forgive one another’s mistakes and small disputes then we will rise as the strongest army in the world and will reign the world then no power can stop us.

ii) An interesting PSL4 Cricket Match.

Cricket always holds a special place in our life. Basically, we Pakistani all are cricket lovers. All of us used to watch the matches of football and tennis too but cricket is something for which we all Pakistanis can do anything. This liking has its roots in our childhood and as time passes by it turns into a strong tree. Our whole nation hardly skips any cricket match of our team. But when it comes to the PSL, the Nation goes crazy. Because PSL is all related to Pakistan. PSL Pakistan Super League is the Twenty 20 cricket League founded in Lahore on the 9th of September 2015 with 5 teams initially but now it comprises 6 teams.

PSL 4 was the 4th edition of the Pakistan Super League. This whole PSL featured six teams and it was started from 14th February 2019 to 17th March 2019. In this edition, twenty-six matches were played in the UAE and the rest were played in Pakistan.

The most exciting match of PSL 2019 was its final which was played between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiator. It was played on 17th March 2019 at National Stadium in Karachi Pakistan. Quetta Gladiators won the toss and elected to field. In the first innings opener were Imam-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal of Peshawar Zalmi. Zalmi played really well and scored 138 by losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.

The 2nd inning was of Quetta Gladiators. The match opener was Ahmed Shehzad who scored 58. Throughout the whole match, Shehzad was the phenomenal player who helped Gladiators to achieve their target in just 17.5 overs. Gladiators won their PSL title by beating Zalmi by eight wickets. It was a very thrilling match and I enjoyed watching it a lot.

iii) A visit to the Hilly Areas of Pakistan.

I always wanted to plan a trip to the hilly areas but never got an opportunity until last year. I was done with my final exams and now I was keen on visiting someplace. Our school was closed for summer vacations. The weather was very hot in Karachi. My parents decided to go to Murree and some other hilly areas of Pakistan. My siblings and I also accompanied them. It was my first journey to hilly areas so I was very excited.
We packed our luggage and after making some necessary arrangements, we took a train from Karachi to Rawalpindi. The railway journey was rather tiresome so we decided to stay in a hotel in Rawalpindi for a night and travel to Murree on the following day. From Rawalpindi, we went to Murree by bus. We reached there within two hours at about 2:00 pm in the afternoon.

The hotels in hill stations are known to be quite expensive but my father managed to book two rooms in a three-star hotel on nominal charges. We were quite tired so we settled ourselves comfortably. In the evening, we sat around the bonfire and enjoyed listening to a local musician singing beautiful songs while playing the piano. The cool breeze and the serenity of the place at night presented a spectacular view.

The following morning, we came out to have a view of the hills. The scenery was enchanting. The gigantic trees were covered with white snow. The little birds with feathers of exquisitely charming colours sitting on the trees pleased our ears with their sweet notes. The houses were built in an irregular way and very often, the top of one was at the level of the door of another. I found this to be very interesting. We walked and walked. At last, we came to Kashmir Point, which was a beautiful spot of nature with a very lovely view. Nature seemed to be in its full glory. It was a new experience for me so I was spellbound by the beauty of nature.

From there we went to Abbottabad to explore the beauty of that place also. We went first to Hanoi lake which was very beautiful. It was in the middle of the mountains filled with natural beauty. We boated there and spent a few times in the water, then we moved to Sam under Katha lake. While we were on the way back, dark clouds gathered in the sky. It began to rain heavily. We hurried back to the hotel but we were completely drenched by the time we reached our rooms. There was a heavy downpour throughout the night. When it was dawn, the rain stopped. The sun rose in its full glory, investing the trees, flowers, hills, birds, and animals with a golden light. We explored all the places of Abbottabad in three days.

After that, we went out to see the Swat valley and Malam Jabba. Sawat is a beautiful fine valley. The entire area is covered with natural beauty. We saw a freshwater stream over there. The pure crystal water of the stream was flowing from rock to rock and producing a piece of gentle music, which seemed to creep into my soul. Malam Jabba was also a very beautiful and enchanting place.

A visit to the hills fills one with the inspiration and glory of God. An unknown joy slipped into our souls and we returned home filled with the wonder and ecstasy of Nature.

iv) Celebration of Independence Day.

Independence Day of Pakistan is celebrated on 14th August. This glorious day is a landmark in the history of the country. Special programs are arranged in all big and small towns and rural areas and people decorate the buildings and their houses with lights and Pakistani flags.
People in Pakistan become crazy about the arrival of the month of August. It is the day when Muslims got independence from the oppression of non-muslims. After 14th August 1947 every year, Pakistanis all around the world celebrate this day. But this celebration is more in bloom in Pakistan.
People decorate their houses, streets, roads, market places, offices, etc with the flags of Pakistan. This day is celebrated like a festival. They celebrate this day with full zeal, zest, and fervour.

People all around the country celebrate it in a different way. Some people dress up in green and white and hoist flags on their homes. People love to visit Historical places on this day and on such places different events related to Independence day are organized. The preferred places are Minar-e-Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum, monuments, etc.
On this day different functions are arranged in school and colleges as well where students warmly participate. Students debate, sing national songs, do speeches about independence, about our great leaders. Children enjoy these days to their fullest.

Pakistanis all around the world celebrate this day wherever they are living. They unite on this day and do some functions to celebrate the happiness of independence. People offer prayers as well to thank Allah Almighty for this blessing of independence. Our leaders and ancestors have sacrificed a lot to give us this independent country. We should value their sacrifices. It is now our responsibility to work for the progress of this country and work for its unity. This day is a reminder of our duties towards our country. We should be well aware of them and fulfil them.
