Teacher’s Day is also defined as Teacher’s Day or National Teachers’ Day, an event that takes place every year in the United States.
The National Education Association describes National Teachers’ Day as a day to honour teachers and recognize their lasting contribution to our lives.
The ceremony usually takes place on Tuesday, the first week of May. During the week-long event, students present gifts, thank-you cards, and compliments to their teachers. Lots of schools on this occasion.
However, countries in other parts of the world celebrate every teacher on October 5, which is International Teachers’ Day.
A brief history of Teacher’s Day
In 1944, political and educational leaders began a one-day dialogue to honour teachers. Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded the 81st Congress to celebrate Teachers’ Day in 1953.
Congress declared March 7, 1980, as Teachers’ Day. The National Education Association continued to celebrate Teachers’ Day on the first Tuesday in March 1985, when the National PTA established Teacher’s Definition Week as the first full week of May.
The NEA’s representative assembly then voted to make Tuesday a Teacher’s Day.
Why Teachers’ Day?
A teacher is a person who helps students to acquire knowledge, skills or excellence. Teachers fill a complex set of roles, varying from one society to another and from one educational level to another.
No matter how old we get, and who we become, we cannot forget the lessons taught by our teachers. These professionals are the foundation of our moral values and nurture us with their love and care.
There are many reasons why we should take the time and appreciate teachers, here are some of them.
- We celebrate teachers because we want them to know how much we appreciate what they do for us.
- Most successful people have a teacher behind them who helped them learn or develop an interest in a particular subject.
- Teachers are dedicated to their students and education. He always tried his best to meet the needs of his students.
- Teachers are not after money, they are interested in teaching and student success.
- Lack of financial support, large class size, limited resources, lack of support, poor management, social and economic challenges, little or no professional development, and many other challenges do not stop teachers from doing their job. In fact, they are active in finding solutions to these problems.
How to observe Teacher’s Appreciation Day
- Write a good card to a teacher or a note from a student or parent.
- Send flowers with compliment notes.
- If you have access to close friends of your teachers, let them know which ones they like best and if you can afford them get them amazing packages.
- Respect them with a breakfast buffet.
