The valley of Kashmir is known as ‘Paradise on Earth’. Kashmir is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Pakistan – it has extraordinary beauty and is a must-visit place at least once in your life. Unfortunately, it has been plagued by regional conflicts since 1947.
Kashmir’s independence has been a point of contention between Pakistan and India since the partition of the subcontinent. Conflicts between the two countries are growing with each passing year.
Kashmir Solidarity Day is being celebrated across Pakistan to show solidarity with Kashmiris. Many freedom fighters have lost their loved ones in the struggle for a separate identity on the world map and Pakistan supports Kashmir’s fundamental right to self-determination.
Kashmir Solidarity Day was established in 1990 by the then Pakistan Opposition Leader Nawaz Sharif. Sharif had called for a nationwide strike in protest of the Indian Army occupying parts of Kashmir. He appealed to the nation to pray for the independence of Kashmir.
The Kashmir issue has been raised at the international level by Pakistan but the world leaders and the United Nations have not been able to resolve this issue. However, the people of Pakistan celebrate Kashmir Solidarity Day in February every year and continue to support the Kashmiri people in their struggle for their cause.
